Monib Stainless is a leading manufacturer and supplier from Safat, Kuwait, manufacturing high-grade stainless steel products. Some of the detailed materials that we have in stock include high-quality AWS Class E317L-16 Electrodes, which offer excellent corrosion strength. Our product range is one of the perfect welding electrodes suitable for welding of stainless steels to deliver excellent performances in chemical processing, petrochemical, food processing, among others. With our focus on quality and reliability, we ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
AWS Class E317L-16 electrodes are austenitic stainless steel with 18.0-21.0% chromium, 12.0-14.0% nickel and low carbon content of ≤0.04%. The mechanical properties include excellent tensile strength up to 70,000 psi, good ductility, and outstanding corrosion resistance, especially in acidic environments. These electrodes offer excellent weldability, which reduces the risk of carbide precipitation. The low carbon content gives resistance to the sensitization that makes them highly suitable for welding thin sections of chemical, food processing, and marine applications.

These electrodes offer robust resistance to corrosion and are designed for welding 317L stainless steel. They typically come in sizes ranging from 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm in diameter. Their light coating ensures ease of handling and a smooth welding arc.
Featuring enhanced protection against corrosion, these electrodes are ideal for welding 317L stainless steel under demanding conditions. They are available in diameters of 3.2 mm to 5.0 mm, with a thicker coating for increased durability and stability during welding.
These electrodes provide superior corrosion resistance and are suited for welding stainless steel in environments requiring high protection. Available in sizes from 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm, they offer reliable performance with a shielded arc to prevent contamination and oxidation.
AWS Class E317L-16 electrodes feature a stainless-steel core wire that is alloyed with 18–20% chromium, 12–14% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, all while maintaining a low carbon content to reduce carbide precipitation. This specific alloy mix significantly boosts corrosion resistance, particularly in environments that are rich in chlorides and acids. The rutile coating contributes to smooth arc stability, effortless slag removal, and minimal spatter. The weld deposits exhibit excellent tensile strength, ductility, and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Even under high temperatures, the mechanical properties remain stable, making E317L-16 a great fit for demanding and corrosive welding applications.
AWS Class E317L-16 electrodes are commonly employed for welding molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steels, especially in situations where superior corrosion resistance is essential. They are perfect for constructing chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, evaporators, and piping systems that face harsh conditions. These electrodes also find applications in sectors like marine engineering, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, and food processing, where resistance to chlorides, acids, and pitting is crucial.
