AWS Class E309/309H-16 electrodes are composed of 22–25% chromium and 12–14% nickel, which gives them impressive resistance to heat and corrosion. The increased carbon content in 309H boosts strength at higher temperatures. Additionally, small amounts of manganese and silicon enhance arc stability and the fluidity of the weld pool. These electrodes produce weld deposits that boast excellent tensile strength, ductility, and toughness. They also offer solid resistance to oxidation and intergranular corrosion. Designed for welding dissimilar metals, E309/309H-16 ensures strong, crack-resistant welds while maintaining stability under thermal stress and in challenging service conditions.
